We minimize the environmental impact of interior construction through careful material selection, efficient operations, and a system designed for future adaptability and long product lifecycles. You get a space that meets your sustainability goals today, while it preserves your investment for years to come. We work with you to understand your sustainability goals and identify how building with DIRTT can support LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge, and other green building standards you’re targeting. Our green team helps to calculate various elements of the DIRTT scope that support certification. You get a construction system that makes sustainability the easy choice.
Less Waste
About 40% of solid waste in the United States derives from construction and demolition

Shaping the future of construction
When your needs change, DIRTT’s agile system makes it quick, easy, and cost effective to evolve your space without demolition. By repurposing elements of your space in perpetuity, you protect your investment through future reconfigurations and relocations, while keeping waste out of the landfill. Our agile system is designed for disassembly to reduce the carbon footprint of new construction and future changes.
We cut waste at every stage of construction. We eliminate physical mockups and reduce change orders by leveraging our 3D visualization technology. Your space is then precision-manufactured and pre-assembled in DIRTT’s facilities, where materials are used as efficiently as possible. On-site, there’s virtually no offcuts, dust, or waste from the DIRTT scope of work.
Responsible Materials
Indoor levels of pollutants may be two to five times higher than outdoor levels. These levels of indoor air pollutants are of particular concern, because most people spend about 90 percent of their time indoors.

Indoor air Quality
We continuously evaluate the environmental impact of our materials, how they contribute to your wellness, and how they can be disassembled and repurposed for long life cycles. DIRTT endeavors to use materials with high recycled content, bio-based content, and low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Most DIRTT assemblies are certified through Science Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage Gold, recognizing their low-emitting properties. DIRTT wall panel and casework facilities are certified to handle materials with FSC® certification (FSC-C006900), ensuring FSC certified products may be specified. Have confidence the materials in your space originate from well-managed forests, controlled sources, or reclaimed materials.
Efficient Operations
Building materials and construction are responsible for 11% of annual global CO₂ emissions.
Architecture 2030
Why the building sector?
We recognize the vital importance of reducing embodied carbon within DIRTT products. Our environmentally conscious production facilities are continuously evaluated by cross-functional teams who assess and implement energy efficiency strategies. To further reduce our operational carbon footprint, DIRTT’s US factories are powered by 100% renewable energy through the purchase of Green-e® certified renewable energy credits (RECs). We further offset the impact of our operations with recycling and waste diversion programs. Even the packaging we use to ship your DIRTT products to site is reusable or recyclable.
Our Commitments
To continue driving us forward as a sustainable construction system and reduce the embodied carbon of DIRTT products, we set clear goals, measure progress, and report on advancements.
We continuously maintain Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations. We also calculate and report on our annual carbon footprint as a business.
By 2025, DIRTT is committed to:
Reduce our landfill waste from 2021 levels by 35%
Source or produce renewable energy to cover 100% of our factory operations
Environmental, Social + Governance (ESG) Reports
Ensuring our stakeholders have access to the information they need to make informed decisions about our business.
SCS Indoor Advantage Gold Certification
The SCS Indoor Advantage Gold Certification is a third-party verification DIRTT products use to comply with the most rigorous indoor air quality emissions standards in North America.
Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification
This single chain-of-custody certificate showcases our commitment to forest-friendly practices in the production of walls, casework, and veneer.
