To create a space that would serve their patients, EvergreenHeath knew that wall access was critical. They needed to keep their 62-bed progressive care unit current with the latest smart room technology. And they wanted quick and easy maintenance. Why? Each critical-care headwall in these patient rooms include more than 50 electrical, data and medical gas service drops. With DIRTT, each service drop was installed before the headwall ever arrived on-site. That kept the plenum above the ceiling open for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Future maintenance and changes become much easier as a result.

Embedding technology inside the wall under easy-to-clean surfaces improved infection prevention and control. But more importantly the inside of the wall could be easily accessed. Wall-mounted equipment could be shifted in a flash. Durable removable panels mean that drywall repairs have been reduced to zero. Overall, maintenance costs are expected to drop an estimated $1 million a year because rooms can stay operational.
